North Bend Schools Reached Out to OneScreen in Transitioning to Hybrid

Summary: North Bend Elementary & Middle School in Baltimore, MD, had a tight budget and no time to transition from an in-person classroom school to a hybrid learning environment. Their existing tech wasn't supported well, so they called on OneScreen for a custom solution with training and technical support on-demand.

Teachers and staff at North Bend Elementary and Middle School in southwest Baltimore, MD, are dedicated to nurturing “Great Expectations” and “Endless Possibilities” for their students.

In 2020, North Bend suddenly found itself facing the challenge of transitioning to teaching remotely due to social distancing and home quarantines. “There was a lot of reimagining what education would look like,” said Hein. “We had to make sure we were still engaging our students, even if we couldn’t be there in the same room.”

“There was a lot of reimagining what education would look like. We had to make sure we were still engaging our students, even if we couldn’t be there in the same room. Overall, the integration of technology within school is vital as we help prepare students for future success in their post-graduate opportunities.”

Has your Kyocera been affected by the MS Windows 10 March Update?

Mar 12, 2021 12:12:14 PM / by The ABP Team

Yesterday, Microsoft released the Windows 10 March 2021 Security Update which has been found to cause some users to experience system crashes when attempting to print from their computer.

Users are experiencing these crashes when printing to devices from many different manufacturers, including Kyocera devices.

What happened?

Microsoft released a security update yesterday that is causing printers to crash with blue screen of death then they print.  What we have found is that issue is originating from Microsoft, NOT the devices.

If you've found your machine has been affected then you can see our recommendations below to share with your team or your IT department for an immediate fix.

Your team will  need to uninstall the Microsoft update.

What is the issue?

Two recent Windows 10 Security updates were released on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 which are resulting in serious system crashes (known as BSOD or Blue Screen of Death) when they attempt to print. This is impacting multiple brands of printers, including Kyocera, Ricoh, Zebra and others.

The Windows 10 updates, called KB5000802 and KB5000808, are part of routine Microsoft security updates which are installed on a user’s computer automatically. As a result, a significant portion of your users may experience these crashes when they use their printers.

What is the solution?

Microsoft has removed the affected software from future automatic security updates, however, many users may already have these updates installed. The solution for these customers is to manually uninstall the affected Microsoft updates. To help you with this, the Kyocera technical support team has created a technical bulletin which is available on MyKyocera for download.

Log onto MyKyocera and Download the Windows 10 Security Update technical bulletin here:

https://mykyocera.kyoceradocumentsolutions.us/en/my-kyocera/technical-support0/announcements.html

We understand how frustrating this will be for our customers and the burden that this will place upon our support teams, and we are committed to providing you with the best technical support possible. We will update the above technical bulletin on MyKyocera with any additional support information that becomes available regarding this Windows 10 Security Update issue. Thank you very much for your support!

We have also found some in-house fixes you can share with your team:

FIX: uninstall the latest Microsoft Update-
